Introduction

This page is intended to provide some insight into what QZB project is about.

Your feedback will also be added if found constructive. Write to me.

Discussion of this project is welcome at SEUL-EDU list.

The goal of the project is to give educators quick and easy way to create tests/quizes/tutorials/trainers with Linux (or other UNIX). Ideally, an educator writes a scenario in a special markup language in a plain text file and puts it into special directory where only teachers have access to. QZB server side parses these files and grants access by QZB clients (text-based, X-based or CGI-based ones), which students use to answer the question forms.

QZB (QuiZBrewery) project was hosted courtesy of SEUL-EDU. Here are some URLs (provided by Wil Langford )

The project list is a list of current efforts underway by the seul-edu group. (If you need to correct something on the project list, please contact the project leader. Unless it's an obvious formatting or technical error with the page, I'll only accept updates from the project leaders or (a few) others that they care to designate.)

The pointer list is a list of pointers to software that would be useful to educators.

QZB project doesn't have any code yet, only description which is given below. CVS tree will also be added in the future (thanks to SEUL.ORG again!).

Some kind of a prior art (CGI-only implementation) can be seen here. Also see a large list, compiled by Daniel Kionka.

The project is actually stalled. At last I learned XML alittle!
I am planning to make some DTDs for the knowledge representation
and give some examples of (simple) quizzes.

Hello,

I've had a similar idea in mind for several years. Although I was going to
have it randomly pick questions from a list for different students (so that
I could use it for quizzes and tests -- just vary the number of questions).
I tend to reuse well worded questions since I find it is actually quite
difficult to word a question well. I had intended to then use a normal web
browser. One of my concerns was that didn't know how to disable cut and
paste or the ability to look at and retrieve information from other files
on the computer. So please make sure the program is mean and makes it
difficult to do anything beside let the user take a test.
